Anne Nielson, Healthcare Coordinator

I have been a Registered Nurse for 29 years with
experience in many different types of nursing. My husband,
Bill, is a Lutheran pastor currently serving a church in
Anamosa, Iowa. We have 3 children: Laura, who lives in
Minneapolis; Lisa, who is married to Bryan and lives in
Waverly, Iowa; and Todd who is a junior in high school. My
favorite way to spend free time is reading, cross stitching,
spending time with my family, or watching my son play
baseball. I really enjoy working with the residents of River
Bend. I learn something new every day and I love to hear
the stories they have to share. I think together we can
make a difference in each other's lives.

Meet the
Staff
As of August 2009, I’m the Nurse Manager of
River Bend Assisted Living. I have been a nurse
for 17 years. I have a broad nursing background,
having worked in a hospital setting, a large
physicians clinic, home care, and long term care.
I have always enjoyed working with the elderly.
I think everyone has a great story, and I love to
listen to people talk about their lives. I do live
just outside of Cascade. I grew up just North of
here in New Vienna. My husband, Nick and I
lived in the Chicago suburbs for 10 years. It was
there, that I went to nursing school. We have two
grown daughters, Erica and Jackie. We moved
back to Iowa to be closer to family and because
we believed it was the best place to raise a
family. Which, I still believe is true.
Michelle Stanner, Activities/Administrator
I started River Bend in August of 2009. I have been
in food service for 12 years working in restaurants
and health care facilities. Cooking has always been a
great interest in my life since I was a little girl always
in the kitchen with my grandmother. I am currently
28 years old 26 of these years I have lived in
Hopkinton were I currently reside. I have one
daughter Rylee that is 10 years old and a cavalier
king charles puppy named Cooper that is 9 months
old. Rylee attends Maquoketa Valley Schools in Delhi.
Rylee keeps me very busy in my spare time with
many activities, Campfire and softball are just a few,
also in my spare time I enjoy spending time with
friends and family, going to races, cooking, crafts,
campfires and many outdoor activities. I enjoy
working here and look forward to the future. Im
always open for new ideas and suggestions to make
the food service department the best it can be for our
residents.

I joined the River Bend team in March 2009. I love getting
to come and work here everyday! The residents are so much
fun to be around, and my co-workers are terrific! I have
lived in Cascade my whole life so I am very familiar with
Cascade and the surrounding communities.

I will be getting married in April 2010 (yay!) so I currently
spend much of my free time wedding planning. My fiancé
and I having farming in our blood, and we are hoping to
purchase a farm sometime in the near future. I enjoy
spending time with my family and friends, watching movies,
reading, shopping, and cooking/baking.

Nick and I farm. We also love spending time outdoors kayaking, camping, downhill or
cross country skiing. Our favorite times are just being around a bonfire with music and
friends.

I just love meeting the residents and seeing how their faces light up when they get
involved in the activities. The socialization for the elderly at River Bend is one of the
biggest benefits. It’s such a warm community setting to get together with friends for
cards or a movie. I certainly look forward to future events we can plan together. Please
stop by to visit and see the place.
